What is a good HAIR STRAIGHTENER besides the chi?

I've had three Chis at the cost of 100, they manage to break and not turn on in a matter of 5 months. My mom and I take great care of them also. What would be the best straightner that makes the hair silky smooth without doing as much damage as a chi. I'm talking about top of the line straigtners. I would like everyones imput. I use Rusk Flat Iron Spray and a Chi gel before straightning everytime also. Are infrashines any good? What is a good HAIR STRAIGHTENER besides the chi?
i have very thick curly hair. I got this straightener on a recommendation from a friend who straightens her thick straight hair everyday. It was like 150 dollars and she ordered it through her hairdresser. it has sapphire plates so it heats up quickly and takes less strokes through the hair.

the one i have is the first one on the page. http://www.beautyfeast.com/hair-care/Sol/a>

i use garnier fructis smoothing serum in my hair whether straight or curly bc it makes it smooth. but i also use kiwi blow serum on it on top of that to smooth it out, and that has heat damage protection in it, i believe.

either way it comes out nice. What is a good HAIR STRAIGHTENER besides the chi?
