What is a really good hair straightener?

i want one that isnt expensive but i dont want one like a conair or revlon, cause ive had those before and now im upgrading. i heard CHI's break really easily and Solias were good? crocs are wayyyy expensive. so help? thanks! What is a really good hair straightener?
I got this new Chi Hair Straightener that is absolutely amazing. I got from the Chi company as some kind of trial thing. They are giving out 500 of these things to people, all you need to do is try it for 60 days and give some feedback every few days. It's the best.

Just go to the Chi website and look for promotions and it'll lead you through a series of steps or just go to the direct link http://www.freesamplesfromheaven.com/chi/a>

Good luck with whatever you decide to go with :)What is a really good hair straightener?
Well, first of all you have to start with a shampoo, any kind, that has citrus fruit in it, like orange, lemon or grapefruit. Look in the ingredients. That makes your hair soft, but not too soft, and smooths your waves immediately. I know because I have tried it. Then you should try straightening it when it is still wet, and with a straightening iron. No products for straightening have ever helped me. Good luck!!!
Babyliss 230 ! i LOVE these straighteners! they have 10 heat settings, form 130 degrees up to 230, they have tourmaline ceramic plates which are longer so that u can straighten more hair at a time , it has a swivel cord + it heats up in just 15 seconds. they straighten my hair really well. + they are half price at argos at around 拢30
Chi is one of the best, not only has it been around for a long time it was one of first straighteners made. It heats up really quick and the plates don't harm your hair as much.I've had my chi for 3 yrs still good and hasn't broke. I'd use a heat protecting spray though because any heat still does harm your hair. I suggest Nexxus Heat Protexx.

I hope I helped,

XOoXo,

B.
the best one that ive tried is the GHD straightener (rare one),

cost me 拢107 with UK plug = $220 aus dollars

or, id recommend remmington ceramic straighteners,

they are also good quality and produce good results: got mine for $30-40 aus.

hope that helped :)
GHD's are very good, but expensive. I heard Tressemme was good to, affordable same as BabyBliss.

Please help:http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind/a>
Oh god, you cannot go past the GHD, they are expensive, I paid $300 at the salon, that's aussie dollars. But my friends have bought them off ebay for a lot less.
i use bedhead and i love it.

my straightener heats up anywhere between 175-400 degrees, heats up in about 15 seconds.

i paid about $120ish for mine.
I've heard that Chi is really good.

It's a bit pricy, but it lasts for a few years :)

It costs about 100 usd, maybe more (120$).
ghd or silver bullet.
GHD is the only way to go. It is AMAZING! its worth it for what you pay. They cost $300 australian dollars
With the large amount of hair straighteners available on the market at the moment how do you know which one would suit you. The prices seem to vary from around the 拢40 mark up to 拢90 and beyond. Are all the cheap ones rubbish or are the expensive ones over priced?. Well the answer is it all depends. It all depends on your hair. If your hair is thick and in good condition then you do not need to pay for an expensive straightener, YET! Budget straighteners usually come with metal plates. The trouble with metal plates is that microscopically they are like sandpaper. This surface will eventually damage your hair with repeated use. If, however, you do not intend to use the straightener on a regualar basis and only on special occasions AND you have healthy hair already then these budget straighteners can be ideal for you and at price that will make you smile. Ceramic plates however are microscopically smooth and do a much better job of flattening the hair. Ceramic plates also have a more even heat distribution across the plates surface which means that the whole plate is an even temperarure. Imagine the disaster if most of the plate was 190潞C and part of it was 210潞C. If your hair was fine then the excess temperature would frazzle your hair! Ceramic plates also heat up and cool down quickly which means that the temperature can be controlled better. If your hair is fine then this will be important to you since temperature is more crucial. Cheap elements have poor control and may not cool quick enough if the desired temperature is exceeded.

Another problem to consider then is the temperature required. Most high street store straighteners do not reach sufficient temperature to actually work. Unless the straighteners reaches temperatures around the 180潞C mark then the styles produced will fall out in a very short time. High temperature straighteners which reach 180潞C will produce a style that will last all day. Along with high temperatures comes other problems however. You do not really want to dry your hair our which is what will happen with repeated use of high temperature appliances. If you intend to use your straightener on a regualer basis then you need to think about protecting your hair. Ceramic hair oils etc can help protect your hair and should be used with any straightener anyway to help replace the oils that can be lost from your hair when use high temperatures. There are, however, technologies available in the more expensive straighteners that can help. Infra Red radiation produced from some high temperature ceramic plates can help seal the moisture in your hair so that you hair does not loose its condition. Ionic technology breaks down the size of the water molecules on the hairs surface making them smaller and easier for the hair to absorb. This can actually improve the condition of you hair! A combination of both technologies would add moisture to your hair and then seal that moisture in. This will actually improve the condition of dry hair. If you intend to use your straightener on a regualr basis then you should look for straighteners that employ some of these technologies.

As we can see by the temperature chart temperatures below 100潞C will be ineffective for long term straightening and will only dry your hair. If you hair is completely damaged then the temperature should not really exceed 120潞C. This will not be very good at acheiving a long term result since the temperatures are still too low but the condition of your hair will not allow higher tempertaures unless you can use ionic or infra red technologies to protect your hair from a higher temperature.

Normal Hair needs temperatures from 160潞C - 180潞C to straighten it but again protective technologies can increase the temperature that your hair can withstand and therefore a longer lasting effect can be achieved.

If your hair is thick then you will need temperatures higher than 180潞C. This greatly reduces your choice of straightener as most cheaper models will not achieve such high temperatures. When using such high temperatures it is important for your hair's condition

to use Ceramic plates, preferably with ionic and/or infra red protection. A temperature control will also add to the usability of your straightener giving you more control and peace of mind. You can then increase the temperature up to your required temperature rather than finding out too late that your straightener is too hot for your hair.
